And his programmes are almost always connected to the future, so this story had to be written in this stile too. Clarke was a philosopher and that he is on Discovery Channel pretty often. I thought that the story would be pretty hard to read and that there would be some action I expected that I would drop right in to the story, because there had been a story before this one. Now there would be two suns and to sources of life in ourĤ Looking at the title what kind of book did you expect If Earthlings would try to disrupt the life-evolving on Europa, the Zagadka would immediately destroy it. This was the meaning of the Zagadka, to create a sun and so that Europa could obtain intelligent life as well as the Earth. But then the black spot has covered all of Jupiter and the planet creates a supernatural source of light, Jupiter has turned into a sun. The Leonov uses the Discovery to boost away from Jupiter's gravitational sphere and flies home. And that is exactly what is going to happen around Jupiter. This Zagadka has been around Jupiter for millennia and has apparently made Earth and hasĪlso watched the life evolve on the Earth. He can create and destroy planets and suns. He is nowĪ being of pure energy that is immortal. Bowman has flown into the Zagadka and has turned into some sort of God. But then a figure appears, so it has to be real.
Heywood doesn't believe that HAL speaks for Mr. And HAL says that Leonov has to leave Jupiter within fifteen days, or they will parish. Heywood is talking to HAL when suddenly HAL says that he is Mr. One month later the Leonov detects a black spot on Jupiter that is quickly expanding itself. Now the Leonov has restarted HAL`s programme and he works at top level again. And he murdered all the inhabitants of the Discovery. HAL, the maincomputer of the Discovery has gone postal. Now they have to get Discovery started again. The Leonov wants to save him but there is nothing they can do. But the Leonov receives an emergency call from one of the Chinese members that there is life on Europa and that all of the crewmembers have died. So they land on Europa, one of Jupiter's moons.
But Tsien has run out of hydrogen (their fuel) and need water to run their engines.
They have approached Jupiter and the Tsien has already arrived. So Heywood goes into hibernation and wakes up ten months later instead of eleven. When the trip begins, Heywood goes along with the Leonov and has to say goodbye to his family for two years. These two ships are the "Leonov", where the Russians and the Americans are travelling in, and the "Tsien", where the Chinese are travelling in. There are two spaceships travelling towards it to find out what happened and make history. There is a spacestation called Discovery floating around Jupiter with a malfunction. The story begins when Heywood has a top secret meeting with a Russian, named Dimitri Moisevitch. The main character in the story is Heywood Floyd.
